Lex Borrero | The New Multi-Hyphenate | Talks at Google
Lex Borrero discusses what it means and what it takes to be a mogul today, how embracing our past empowers our future, turning identity into a superpower, and how he’s creating opportunities for others.
Colombian-born Lex Borrero has one goal: push the boundaries of Latin culture globally. As the co-founder of NEON16 and partner at NTERTAIN, he has applied his “fear nothing, impact everything” mentality in a way that has allowed him to become an industry leader and cultural tastemaker. Lex is a Billboard 40 under 40 honoree and has made extraordinary strides in the music industry. He has climbed his way through the ranks as A&R & Producer to the mastermind of some of the industry’s biggest producers including Latin GRAMMY®-award winning and GRAMMY® nominee producer, Tainy, with whom he co-founded NEON16, which was named Fast Company’s #1 most innovative music company of 2021.
As a label under his direction and vision, NEON16 has released multiple #1 songs including “Un Dia,” “Agua,” “Callaíta,” and “Adicto.” “Adicto” was named to Spotify and Apple’s Top 100 Songs of the Century and surpassed 1.4 billion streams, and “Callaíta” won multiple awards and reached over 2 billion streams. Lex’s instincts for finding great talent also led him to sign pop producers The Monsters and Strangerz to their first publishing deals after putting the collective together over 8 years ago and developing their hit-making career that now includes award winning records such as Zedd’s “The Middle,” Maroon 5’s “Memories” and Halsey’s “Graveyard.”
Lex also launched the charity/multi-media initiative HUMAN X with the purpose of generating revenue to support Latin causes that take care of those in need. He continues to think outside the box and create opportunities that elevate the Latin culture outside of entertainment such as NEON16’s partnerships with the NFL, Footlocker & Puma.
