Todrick Hall | Femuline | Talks at Google
Todrick Hall discusses his fourth studio album and most personal album to date, Femuline.
Femuline finds Todrick sharing the spotlight with some of music’s biggest names: Nicole Scherzinger, the first guest vocalist to sign up for the album, appears on high-octane belter “Show Off”, Tyra Banks comes dangerously close to stealing the show on “Fashón”, and longtime LGBTQ+ ally Chaka Khan, with whom Todrick first worked on the Broadway production of The Color Purple, raises the roof on “Fabulosity”. R&B legend Brandy also joins Todrick on “Click Clack”, a song Todrick originally wrote with a girl band in mind, but decided to keep for himself when Brandy heard the song and fell in love with it.
Those who’ve been following Todrick’s unstoppable, self-sustained rise already know that his resume reads like a Wiki entry of Major Pop Culture Events Of The 21st Century. He’s worked with everyone from Taylor Swift to Beyoncé to Pentatonix, going from national fame on American Idol to international fame via Drag Race, to even greater global fame through a cavalcade of viral videos that pushed him to over half a billion YouTube channel views. That’s before you even factor in his Broadway runs in Kinky Boots, Chicago and Waitress, or his role as dance captain on the BBC’s Greatest Dancer, or the millions of streams across multiple visual albums and EPs, or his own MTV show, or his sixty-date solo tour spanning the US, Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Australia, or… Well, you get the idea. There are double threats, and there are triple threats, and then there’s Todrick Hall: rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, dancer, director and choreographer.
