I've had twenty-two hours to think it over... and, yeah, I'm still annoyed at my failure to read all the way back at take one. Would have provided useful information. I'm not saying I would have properly utilized it, but, y'know, can't do if if I don't know, right?

This concludes my single-shot session of playing FTL. I think it's an all right game, worth the few USD I spent on the purchase, but... *inhales through his teeth* I don't know. Certainly, there are strategic elements involved. I'll continue the comparison Past Grimith made to NetHack.

In NetHack, there are scores of ways to ascend, and prior knowledge of the game can trump the procedurally generated nonsense so long as you pay attention and don't get snuffed in the cradle.

Here, after five hours and three ships' worth of experience, it seems that there aren't many ways to defeat the rebel flagship, and prior knowledge of FTL can't trump the RNG if the game doesn't throw you a fucking bone.

FTL is a coffee-break game and nothing more. I certainly don't understand the rampant obsession with it.
