139A factory ship, also known as a fish processing vessel, is a large ocean-going vessel with extensive on-board facilities for processing and freezing caught fish or whales. Some factory ships are equipped to serve as a mother ship. This impressive vessel is as tall as a fifteen-story house and can process up to 650 tons of fish per day! 520 crew members spend 9 months out of a year away from their families.
