Life update, 2023.10
4Five months in on living in Norway and... yeah, this past month has been rough, to put it mildly. I'm okay, for reference, but only barely.
The section I forgot about was the currency problem. That's in another video now, because Derp, but the tl;dw is that I've sort-of taken a 10% pay cut as a result of the exchange rate. Sorta. It gets complicated.
Other notes from editor me (who didn't bother editing):
- Payroll taxes in Wisconsin for me were around 5.2%, they're 8% in Norway.
- I have an effective tax rate of 25ish% this year due to PAYG in Norway and had a nearly-30% tax rate in Wisconsin, hence why I'm technically paying less in tax.
- That reduced tax rate ends in January, where it will increase to 39.1%. Yeah, the big scary Norwegian income tax rate is STILL below that of many US states.
