Lightning Returns: FF13 Playthrough #043, Day 3: Wildlands: Research Camp
This is video #043 in my playthrough of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. This video does not contain commentary. To view the commentary version, click here: http://youtu.be/IWm6skHLSUA
Lightning has just found the airship wreck in the northern tip of the Wildlands, where Sazh and his son have been living these many years. Now, to more thoroughly explore the Eremite Plains.
A quick note: the Ectopuddings can be a right royal pain, but use Blizzard on them. You'll be glad you did.
In the eastern end of the Plains, Lightning finds a settlement called the Research Camp (time 2:28). Coming here unlocks the warp destination Wildlands Research Camp. A man here talks about Sazh. Sounds like our favorite troublemaker has been at work.
On the high observation platform, Lightning finds a woman named Cornelia (time 3:14). That's a classic Final Fantasy name if ever there was one.
Also, she will find the Research Leader (time 3:23). It sounds like maybe this was the area where Academia once stood. He issues her the quest "Omega Point." He wants her to recover four units of data from pieces of the airship wreck that has been scattered across the Eremite Plains for the past five centuries. He gives her a Data Recorder to use for this purpose.
East of there, Lightning will find Dr. Gysahl's assistant, Thirteen, with a Lost Dog and a doctor named Tilda (time 7:27). Something's wrong with the poor doggy. They give Lightning the quest "Dog, Doctor, and Assistant." They want Lightning to bring 4 Dayring Blossoms, 2 Moonsoul Blossoms, and 5 Goopy Goos for the medicine. Unfortunately, Light is missing one Moonsoul Blossom, and those can only be harvested at night, so she cannot complete this yet.
Next, LIghtning spends a little quality time synthesizing abilities at the Sorcery Shop (time 10:53). The player can earn the Expert Synthesist trophy by synthesizing abilities at least 30 times (time 14:02).
Amid the foliage in the southeastern portion of the camp, there is a treasure ball containing an Old-Fashioned Photo Frame (time 19:06).
On the plateau south of the camp, there is another treasure ball with a Blizzara Lv. 2 (time 19:42).
Lightning then hops across the plateaus to take the southeast exit from the Eremite Plains to the Grasslands. I recommend not traveling the lowlands because Chocobo Eaters spawn there.
The road between the plains and the Grasslands is the Ravine Path (time 21:13).
Along the way back to the Wildlands Station, Lightning has the good fortune to find an outerworld visitor that has a Turbo Ether for sale (time 23:10). Lucky lucky!
Thanks for watching!
