Lightning rod - Rod of Asclepius and the Brazen Serpent
Lightning rod - Rod of Asclepius and the Brazen Serpent
Coincidences and concordance. Last week I had a series of coincidences surrounding “lightning rods” which led me to learn about The Rod of Asclepius and the Brazen Serpent which Moses created in the Book of Numbers and so much more. Join me on this study of verses 4-9 of Numbers 21 as in concordance with John 3:14 in the New Testament, thousands of years apart in their divine authorship.
Jesus or Yeshua as I often refer to our saviour as, which is his original Greek name, explained to Nicodemus how the Son of Man (Yeshua) must be lifted up, just as the bronze serpent Moses put on a stake or cross, as Yehovah God instructed him to do… See video for full details and below some notes, as promised...

Asclepius, the father of medicine and holder of the so-called, “Rod of Asclepius”

A demi-god or moral, whose father was Apollo and mother princess Coronis, a mortal from Thessaly, Greece. Born around the 8th century.
“In short, Moses was probably born in the late 14th century” Source:

So Asclepius was born around 800 BC. Moses was more about 600 years earlier in 1400 BC (Before Christ)
“In Greek mythology, the Rod of Asclepius (Greek: Ράβδος του Ασκληπιού, Rábdos tou Asklipioú, sometimes also spelled Asklepios), also known as the Staff of Aesculapius and as the asklepian,[1] is a serpent-entwined rod wielded by the Greek god Asclepius, a deity associated with healing and medicine. The symbol has continued to be used in modern times, where it is associated with medicine and health care. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_of_Asclepius
“The ambiguity of the serpent as a symbol, and the contradictions it is thought to represent, reflect the ambiguity of the use of drugs,[8] which can help or harm, as reflected in the meaning of the term pharmakon, which meant "drug", "medicine", and "poison" in ancient Greek.”
Then you have the Caduceus, a staff with two snakes wrapped up around it. Used or carried by the Greek god Hermes and in the left hand of Mercury.

“In the biblical Books of Kings (2 Kings 18:4; written c. 550 BCE[17]), the Nehushtan (Hebrew: נחשתן Nəḥuštān [nə.ħuʃ.taːn]) is a derogatory name given to a bronze serpent on a pole first described in the Book of Numbers which God told Moses to erect so that (Numbers 21:4-9)"
In 2 Kings 18, we learn that Hezekiah began to reign.

Paul emphasized how to act toward his adversaries. In 1 Corinthians 10:9 he referred to the narration in Numbers 21, but emphasized not God's saving but punishing action.
John 3:14 makes explicit reference to the narration of Moses and the Copper Serpent: "The Son of Man [Jesus] must be lifted up high, as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness." Just as "looking up to the serpent" gave life, "faith" would have a life-saving effect. The serpent coiled around the pole pointed to Jesus on the cross. In art, this has led to numerous depictions of a snake coiling around a cross.
1 Corinthians 10:9
The cult of the snake took on a live of its own after Moses made this bronze or copper statue of it on a stake or some even say cross. Snake worship was certainly a thing for many thousands of years. This make it even more interesting the good act Hezekiah did in 2 Kings 18 by destroying the bronze stake and snake artefact into many pieces!
This study really took me on all kinds of twists and turns and there is so much more to pray about and to look into. The Bible, The Word, God’s Word is absolutely amazing!
SO, Satan will be destroyed into pieces and destruction and Yeshua Jesus, the Christ will be on a pole or cross, but only temporarily as he died and rose again in the resurrection ! The snake or serpent stake leads to destruction, Jesus on the cross leads to salvation!

Let Jesus, Yeshua be your Lightning rod, not the Rod of Asclepius nor the Brazen Serpent Moses once had to make for the disbelievers.
