LIMBO - Achievement: No Point in Dying
LIMBO (PC(W,M,L)/Steam)
0-deaths run
Achievement/Trophy: No Point in Dying
Description: Complete the game in one sitting with five or less deaths
So... a quick bit of context/history... LIMBO's one of my all-time favorite puzzle platformers. Which, honestly, is the main reason I chose it for my first Milestone video, back in 2015. =)
Anyway, ever since that Milestone video, I've been thinking about recording "No Point in Dying" for the channel... but never quite got around to it. ^^;
...
And then, earlier this month, I was thinking about it again, realized I had what would probably be a sufficient amount of usable free time... and decided to try recording NPiD for Halloween! ^_^
My previous best NPiD was a 1-death run... but given that I was probably severely out-of-practice (it'd been literal years since I'd last played LIMBO!), I decided to aim for a 3-deaths run.
Anyway, long story short, things actually went a lot smoother than I thought they would! After a quick test run and some time practicing what seemed to be the most problematic spots for me... I managed a 4-deaths run within three tries... but since I was aiming for a 3-deaths run, I decided to give it one more try... and somehow managed my first ever 0-deaths NPiD! ^.^;
Unfortunately... when reviewing the video, I realized that, due to the way I'd set up the recording software, the aspect ratio in the video ended up a bit off. =/ I thought about posting it anyway... but eventually decided to re-record instead.
So I tried again the next day (after making sure the recording settings were properly set up this time!)... and apparently, all that practice paid off, because things went even smoother this time... and I ended up with my second ever 0-deaths NPiD! =)
A couple semi-random notes:
- Interestingly, in my 0-deaths runs, I actually ended up using slightly different timing strategies in a couple spots (including the very last timing puzzle), compared to my earlier 1-death run. The timing strats I used for these spots essentially boil down to "wait at this location, then when this happens, start moving"... but I decided to try some slightly different wait locations and start triggers this time. Apparently, they worked well. =)
- If anybody was wondering about the minor audio glitch near the beginning of Chapter 30... a background process on my computer unfortunately decided that was the perfect moment to do something... and I was hoping it hadn't affected the recording, but fortunately, it wasn't too bad. ^_^
- Happy Halloween!
