Lineage 2 Trailer light (elf vs dark elf) AI upscale [4k 60fps] Topaz AI / Cyberlink Power Director
NOTE: I tried to keep this "upscale" as natural as possible. AI video uspcale software can get better results than this, but there is a very thin line between the natual look of the original video and the distorted AI upscale. Bear this in mind.
I sometimes get sit late in the evening and don't feel like playing any games, read books or watch old movies. This is when I start doing various stuff. I have recently been testing out a lot of demos of AI video upscalers and enhancers (AVC Labs, Hitpaw, Topaz Labs Video AI, as well as several less know and free upscalers). I must admit that Topaz AI (version 4, the most recent one) satisfied my all needs. It is fast, efficient, has A LOT of options that let you fine tune your output video, and (most importantly, which makes it stand out from the rest) you can add a grain effect to your videos, which is completely useless on YT (YT compression "eats" all the film grain) but I love the effect it adds to old upscaled movies.
So, when I decided on my favorite software, I recollected that back in the day, when I spent most of my free time playing MMORPGs, I had one favorite game trailer. I tried looking it up on the Internet and found only low quality versions. Not a surprise, bearing in mind the age of the trailer itself (I couldn't find its release date, but I guess it is about 15 years old). This is when I decided to restore the former glory of one of my favorite game trailers of all time.
The software version I used is Topaz Labs Video Enhance AI version 2.4.6 which is pretty old and I am currently saving money for the newest version that I tested the demo of (v. 4).
The input video's resolution was 848x480, 30 FPS. First, I used the "Proteus - Fine Tune" model to upscale the video to 1080p to preserve details as close to the original as possible. Straight upscale to 4k leads to various distortions and although the video looks great at first glance, you will notice that faces get twisted or some details like shadows etc. get weird artifacts. Next, I used the model called Chronos Fast to turn the video into 60 FPS. Finally, I used Cyberlink Power Director to export the FHD video as 4k 60 FPS. Why such a weird order? Well, this was the least time consuming option. Turning a 2 minute 4k video from 30 to 60 FPS would take like 2.5-3 hours. Using an FHD video was way faster. I hope you like the result!
