Skyrim Nolvus Ascension thorough playthrough [GeForce GTX 1060] #1 This looks insane!
NOTE: The game looks WAY better than in my video. Seems like YT compression takes no prisoners here. I will try to record my videos in 4k (although I play in FHD but Action! allows recording in 4k, I will also record another footage onto my Avermedia 4k LGP 2 Plus to test out which format is better for the compression).
NOTE 2: I know that there is supposed to be a dodge button but I simply can't find the settings for it ;/
NOTE 3: Before starting the playthrough, I played for an hour or two to check some things. That is why I am somewhat familiar with some of the mods (like that Hunterborn glitched and stopped working correctly).
NOTE 3: Why a female character? Oh, you know why.

Okay, I have to confess - although I love the Elder Scrolls and played all of the major titles (except for Redguard and Battlespire) including the MMO... I have never actually finished any of them. For me, starting from Arena to ESO, TES games are simply an opportunity to completely immerse yourself in probably one of the most intricate fantasy worlds ever created in video games. I simply play the virtual worlds presented in those games and somehow always skip or neglect the main quest. Skyrim is no exception. Although I purchased the game probably more than 6-7 times for various systems/platforms and in various editions, I still just install it from time to time and just have some fun with the mods (adding so many that my game is a complete mess).
And I recently heard of Skyrim Nolvus Ascension - a project that bundles together over 2000 mods to provide a unique and overhauled experience, from graphics to combat mechanics, adding so much stuff it is impossible to describe it all in this description (and comprehend at once).
So, I spent an hour reading about the installation process, deleting some of the games from my SSD drive (the installation requires a whooping 345 gigs of space!), buying Premium on Nexus Mods (you can install the project with a free account but mind you that you need to click manually on more than 2000 mods, each requiring you to wait for 5 seconds before it will start downloading) and generally reading about the changes.
I finally installed Nolvus, started the dashboard and, with my fingers crossed, prayed that the game will run decently on my GeForce GTX 1060. Mind you that this is still a good piece of hardware for gaming, if you are not a maximizer, but Nolvus Ascension requires a true PC beast if you want to play on Ultra and install the higher-quality pack.
This playthrough is a very thorough adventure through Skyrim (once again) trying to discover all the insance creations people provided for this game in over 12 years. By 'thorough' gameplay I mean you will see everything - all the lollygagging, item management, house decorating, backtracking, deaths, etc.
I chose the following settings in the installation process: the Redux version intended for lower end PCs, I turned nudity on (a stupid decision because now I need to remember not to loot armors or loot them very carefully as well as be careful when changing my equipment because YT might take down my video for a split of a second with virtual bewbs), I also chose the option for animated clothing and turned hardcore enemies on.
My specs are: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060, Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz, 24gigs of RAM. The game is installed on a high quality SSD drive (it's mandatory!) and it still takes like 3-4 minutes to load the game and show the main menu.
The character I picked for this playthrough is a preset I created beforehand (to avoid a lot of nudity because when you choose to use "Skyrim unbound", your character is naked until you create him/her and pick the option to equip (randomized) armor and weapons. But I must admit that the character creation is INSANELY detailed, like you can probably create any person you like here. It is a bit glitchy and some options seem to make no difference, but still it's overwhelming.
My first impressions: It is a completely new experience. Even if you are very familiar with the map and the game, you can get simply lost. The amount of changes in the scenery, the number of quests you are flooded with from the beginning (some probably a part of Skyrim AE) will require some time to get used to. I chose to start the game at the border with Cyrodiil and immediately got a quest with a new land. I started making my way to Whiterun just to get my a%$ handed to me by all the new enemies on the way. The combat system is rebuilt from scratch and I need to get the hang of it. The number of options in the MCM is simply too big for me to get through all of them, so I need to trust the "default" settings and then slowly calibrate the game to my liking once I discover how stuff works. Nevertheless, I expect a truly majestic journey!
