You don't need to pull out the Hookshot to get across the pit in Link's Awakening's Signpost Maze, on either side.

However, this little sequence break is all but useless, since you still need the Power Bracelet L-2 to get the Rooster.

So it's really not that useful, but it's cool, so who cares?
