On the Linux Mint homepage, it says that Linux Mint now supports GTK4 themes. Well this might be the case with Cinnamon but NOT with Mate desktop. Mate has some really nice pros like decreased RAM consumption (only takes about 1 gb), and it does not have the 2-second hiccup present in Cinnamon which makes playing games and watching videos impossible on older hardware.

Mate also has it cons like installing themes! While this is just a simple matter of point-and-click on Cinnamon desktops, it takes a bit more manual labor on Mate including a lot of trial and error. I have gotten some nice themes to work for Mate but may never find all the working ones, because on Mate 1 out of 10 themes at the most will actually work. They don't tell you this on the Linux Mint homepage.
