Their main role is still dealing magic dmg on and off turn and delay the enemy with the powerful zeroform particle beam which plays into their FR conditons which ask for attacks that delay the enemy and for magic attacks that are dealt off turn. The crayclaws make their return as well as the raid boss those giant lobsters can be quite annoying with their array of debuffs in particular max HP down which can decrease your HP heavily.
The shinryu fight puts you against two crayclaws praying on you with debuffs, their FR gauge fills through out the fight and on thresholds lower your turnrate and increases their turnrate. Upon reaching 100% the enter forcetime by delaying your party by 1 turn whilst dealing 50% more brv and HP dmg and having 100% turnrate up. On 79% and 19% HP they assume a defensive position indicated by a yellow aura which reduces HP dmg taken by 200% and give them a massive HP regen that heals them every turn until they are delayed by at least 1 turn excluding break. Tidus , Sherlotta and Kain made succulent sea food out of them.^^
