Live from Khartoum in Sudan on Thursday, April 20, on the fifth day of clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militant group. More than 180 people were killed in Sudan according to UN figures.
The most recent conflict erupted over a plan to merge the RSF - made up of former militia groups which fought on behalf of the government in Darfur - and the army, and over the eventual leadership of the military.
A power struggle between the army’s leader and country’s de facto ruler General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and deputy leader General 'Hemedti’ Mohamed Hamdan Dagolo’s RSF forces has been ongoing in recent years.
