WWII pilots (Flieger Type-B dial) watch from Long Island Watch. I've always wanted to buy a watch from Marc at Long Island Watch in New York as he makes very nice watches that are an insane value. This guy is 42mm case/22mm lug width, Seiko NH35 automatic movement, Sapphire crystal, 100M WR with screw down crown and awesome lume on the entire printed portion of the dial with the F-14 Tomcat on the back since Grumman also made the legendary swept wing fighter in Long Island, New York! He sells these for like 1/2 to 1/3rd of what the big brands would sell them for. Heck it's very similar looking to Orient's (Seiko) version except it ain't Sapphire (and they only lume the outer minute track, not the inner hour track!) and it costs more! The big brands charge an arm and a leg for Sapphire while the microbrands just give it to ya! Sapphire crystal means I can wear it to work everyday and not worry about scratching it!

The Flieger Type-B was made popular by pilots in WWII. The watches were larger than others of the era with an emphasis on the minutes. The idea being it's easy for a pilot to read at a quick glance and he likely needs to focus most on the exact minute. If anything they made a watch that was easier to tell time. Why this design didn't take off as the standard for all clocks and watches is a mystery to me. The hands also look like the hands on flight instruments like the Altimeter. The design is still popular enough today that many watch brands make their own version.
