This is the longplay of the R-Type game, the horizontal-scrolling shooter arcade game developed and released by Irem in 1987. This game was released later for several consoles.
In this game, the player controls the spaceship R-9 Arrowhead, with the objective of fighting the Bydo Empire, composed of a dangerous alien race
R-Type is not a simple spaceship game to shoot everything you see, but it is also a survival game, and it introduced a new upgrades mechanic, where the ship could use the "force", a kind of indestructible shield that allows a wide variety of gameplay situations, this shield can be attached to the front and rear of the ship and besides the function of protecting, it also increases the power of the shots (which exist in several types, from circular shots, penetrating shots and even those that reach the entire screen) and allow to shoot forward or backward. In addition to the quick shots, the ship also has a charged shot that is triggered by holding the fire button for a few seconds.
It is one of the best horizontal shooting games, being one of the biggest and most classic releases of its kind in the 80s, along with Gradius (from Konami). I hope you enjoy the video.
