For best results view at 720p60fps. In today's Utterly Pointless Comparison I take a look at the Arcade and NES versions of Contra. You might know the game better as either Probotector or Gryzor. I'll also note that the Famicom version is considerably different than the NES version with some animated tiles, cutscenes and a between level map.

Aside from all the stuff mentioned in the video, here's a few bonus differences/notes.

1. The arcade has an end game jingle that plays after you defeat the alien heart that's missing from the NES version.

2. Arcade Contra is also inconsistent with it's weapon icons. Some weapon pick ups look like guns while others have the familiar bird icon with a letter in it. In the NES version all weapons pick-ups have a bird icon with a letter.

3. The NES has a pick up exclusive to it: The bomb icon that destroys all enemies on screen.
