One of the solutions here relied upon an undocumented control - hold down the RMB and the when applying a skill with the LMB, the game will only toggle a walker, ignoring any other lemming in the crosshair. I went back and checked the original manual - this isn't listed anywhere in there. This game is annoying in that it relies on such finnicky details. The dearth of timestamps below should illustrate that...
