What is Loop Hero and why should you be playing it?!
Immediately coming out as a smashing success this Devolver Digital / Four Quarters game is so addictive it's easy to see why!
Stunning retro graphics styling has the game looking like it should have come out in the mid 80s, maybe early 90s but with modern gaming sensibilities and polish!
Taking cues from deck builders, roguelikes, RPGs, and tower defenses this game smashes together something completely new. A looper?
Your pixelated hero runs in circle after circle... looping on an expedition, slaying foes to upgrade gear, and gather resources. The only thing you take back to camp (and can be saved) are the resources you leave with. So while you'll fuss over gear that will get you to the next loop (enemies scale as you loop) it's all temporary as you can't take it back with you. You build a 'deck' of cards which you'll use to place tiles around the loop that spawn enemies and give buffs and strategize what gear stat you want to complement your character and class based on the deck enemies you intend to spawn. Basically, there's a SURPRISING depth that feels remarkably fast-paced as you loop around to eventually face the malevolent boss fights, gather resources, and rebuild the world... or at least your little town.
This game is 100% worth price of admission and is an EASY buy recommendation.
