Kid Dracula is a Castlevania spin-off that follows the son of Dracula, Alucard, AKA Kid Dracula, in his adventure to save his father's castle from the evil... dinosaur? Alien? Demon? Galamoth (incorrectly translated to Garamoth in English). It's definitely a kid friendly experience in comparison to the darker elements of... pretty much every other Castlevania, but it certainly kept the difficulty. The controls are pretty responsive, but there are segments of the game with slowdown, and this effects the input lag, which in turn effects the difficulty. The sound is amazing for a Game Boy game, especially the music. The graphics on the sprites and during the cutscenes are pretty good, but the level designs are lacking details. As for the fun... The game is fun, but it is hard. Not incredibly hard, but for a game that seems geared towards kids, it seems pretty tough. Granted, it's extremely fair with giving away lives and giving infinite continues, as well as using a password system, so I would say the fairness of the experience balances out the harder parts of the game. I would recommend Game Boy and/or Castlevania players check it out, but unfortunately the game is insanely expensive on the Game Boy, however; You're in luck! The Castlevania Anniversary Collection that is available for newer systems includes a copy of Kid Dracula, so if you really wanna try it out, I recommend that.
