Final Fantasy Legend III continues the trend of improvement from the previous title. The game uses more complex tiles in dungeons, animations look great, and sprites look fantastic. With some observation, it actually looks like they used some graphical assets from Mystic Quest, or vice versa. The sound and music is still good, the controls are still pretty good with barely any lag on input (honestly only appears while moving around, and just barely at that). While the story takes a hit, being slightly more simpler than it's predecessor (though dealing with time travel), the game play is heavily improved upon, and the difficulty has been adjusted to being slightly easier, though being an RPG, you are still required to prepare yourself for difficult encounters, however; I was able to beat the game by almost exclusively exploiting the overpowered usage of spells and transformations, so even the more difficult parts of the game can be cheesed with the right knowledge. Saving anywhere you want returns to this game as well, and you all should know by now how easily exploitable that was. All and all, it's not a bad game, I think if you don't want to exploit the overpowered parts of the game (except maybe the saving wherever you want, that's pretty useful), you might have a lot of fun with this one.
