The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is one of my favorite Game Boy games, ever. It also happens to be one of the best Game Boy games, if not THE best Game Boy game. The gameplay is exactly the same as A Link to the Past, but portable, with responsive and tight controls. The adventure is intensely fun! Exploring and discovering everything in the game is actually an incredible experience. While A Link to the Past technically did many of these things beforehand, it is clear that Link's Awakening added so much to this formula that essentially every Legend of Zelda game after Link's Awakening should be thankful for it's existence. Even Nintendo admits to this. While graphically it is gimped by being on the Game Boy, it is undoubtedly the best looking Game Boy game. The sound effects are very good for a Game Boy game, in fact they are practically better than the quality of the NES, and the music is also just as amazingly developed. I had forgotten how insanely good the Face Shrine theme was, like it's mind blowingly good. It's so good that they used it for the Switch Remake of Link's Awakening, and by that I mean they literally have the Game Boy version, from 1993, used in the Switch version, from 2019. So yeah... If you were thinking about trying it out, I strongly recommend it.
