Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar (otherwise known as Thunder Force IV in other parts of the world) is a shoot 'em up that is widely known for it's quality. Amazing visuals, extremely good music and sound effects, good gameplay and controls, and one of the pinnacle shooters that helped influence the entire genre (amongst others at the time). It is very difficult if you are not into shoot 'em ups, but you can change the difficulty by pressing A+Start before you start the game, allowing newbies (like myself) to still enjoy the game. Even though I suck at it, I still think it's probably one of the best games on the Genesis.
