Lost Judgment may be last game in series over PC disagreement
Lost Judgment may be the last game in the Judgment series due to a disagreement between Sega and talent agency Johnny’s.
When the game was revealed earlier this year, publisher Sega had hinted that the sequel would be coming to PC – this was then revealed to be not the case when a Sega rep announced that “Sega has no plans to bring Lost Judgment to PC at this time.”
The turnaround of the decision seems to come from a disagreement by Johnny’s, the talent agency behind actor Takuya Kimura, who plays series protagonist Takayuki Yagami.
According to a report from Japanese publication Nikkan Taishu, Johnny’s has strict control over the likeness rights of its talents and “have been unable to reach an agreement regarding the platforms to sell the game.”
The report also claims that Sega had been attempting to bring the original Judgment and its sequel Lost Judgment – both developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio – to Steam but because the agency is preventing this from happening, the latter may be the last game in the series.
A source told the publication: “The game makers have decided that if they can’t distribute the game on Steam, it would be very difficult from a business standpoint, and the series will end with the second game, Lost Judgment.”
Lost Judgment will be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on September 24, 2021.
