Scientists have experimented and found many new innovations which have helped mankind progress however, what happens when an experiment goes wrong? Usually, the scientist will clean up the mess and try again but he can’t if he’s…dead.
From Beyond is a movie that was released in 1986 and is a body horror film. The film revolves around a crazy scientist who is obsessed with experimenting on how to activate the pineal gland that is there inside the human brain. In an effort to do so, he and his loyal assistant, Crawford manage to create an otherworldly scientific machine called the Pretorius Resonator which, unfortunately, backfires on them. An accident occurs, the mad genius scientist dies and all the blame falls on his assistant. Did he kill Dr. Pretorius? Or was it something completely different?
A movie of this sort has H.P Lovecraft written all over it will all it horrifying component and you would not be wrong in thinking that since the movie was loosely based on a short story written by the man himself. Interestingly, the short story is only 7 pages long and another movie called Banshee Chapter (2013) was also based on it. The movie stars Jeffrey Combs, Barbara Crampton, Ken Foree, and Ted Sorel and was written by Dennis Paoli, Gordon, and Brian Yuzna. Let’s dive into this slimy world of Dr. Pretorius’ nastiest creation.
