We begin by settling down for a loving-kindness meditation, developing love and kindness: first toward the self, and then outward to others, one we may find difficult or challenging in our lives and then finally out to the whole world.
The aim of a loving-kindness meditation is not simply to channel kindness to oneself, but to extend these well wishes out and beyond to the world.
A challenge in life is when our flow is broken by others who bring negative energies into our lives. This is when we need the most awareness, which mindfulness brings, so that we can recognise where our energies are becoming trapped and blunted.
By harnessing this power of meditation, we can allow ourselves to reframe our experiences in such a way that we can respond to these negative energies and re-channel it toward greater positivity towards others and the world.
