LOW BLOW - A Punch & Click adventure (Short Animation inspired by Leo Fong)
The most deadly weapon is still your fist!
I was re-watching Red Letter Media's Best of the Worst featuring the film Low Blow featuring Leo Fong and I thought, "What if Low Blow but super Nintendo and pixel graphics?". Then I started creating this animation and I took in more influences from pop culture and old video games like Final Fight and Streets of Rage and I started working those in too.
I didn't really story board it or anything, I just kinda kept going with one scene after another until I decided it was finished.
Does it look like Leo Fong? No. But neither does the poster for Low Blow, so thematically, I'm right on brand ;)
I'll admit that I am not the biggest Leo Fong fan largely because I don't really know too much about him and what I do know is from watching people like RLM and other B Movie film makers who know and discuss his work. One thing is apparent though and that is that within his field, he was a respected individual.
So this is a tribute to Leo Fong, as filtered through the lens of Red Letter Media and other pop culture influences.
