Low level battle versus Ovan (Redemption)
This video includes both the fight with Ovan and Corbenik the 2nd.
First off, the blurriness is probably some setting on my capture brick's software that YouTube doesn't like. We'll see with the next video. The audio quality at least has taken a jump upward; this is because my new lappy can handle video capturing (unlike the old one), so I was able to get it off my weak desktop.
For the Ovan battle, after learning about the strength of the party HP/SP Potion series when it comes to raising Morale, I decided it would be faster to forsake critical healing Favorites and go straight to Holy/Godly Potion. Morale gets a potent bonus boost from these items in addition to the boost it gets from the quotes. This helping hand is good enough when mixed with Morale Boost and pink affection to hit peak Morale in four items. The reason this fails here at the very last second is because I had to get Endrance to escape Ovan's reach, which canned one of Haseo's "Heal!" quotes. Kuhn was set to attack because he's a Steam Gunner, and he has Silent Jade (I decided not to use Silent Eden because most people wouldn't have it at this point). With Kuhn taking a chunk of Ovan's HP through Dust Bullet, I set Endrance to Rage, changed out Passion Fortunes to Berserk Fortunes and used the protection of the Skill Trigger to get in a group attack and escape. Once Endrance's Healing Serum maxed out Morale, Beast Awakening was all I needed.
Pay attention to the timing of the Skill Trigger as well; I only used it when someone else attacked since otherwise neither Endrance or Kuhn would move. With this new assault, I was able to cut quite a few seconds from the original prototype video.
EDIT: I forgot to mention something else as well. Before the final group assault (Tiger Strike/Devil's Sword/Dust Bullet combination), you see Haseo say something, which is "Hey, over here!" The Gather command is actually useful for other things as well, and one of its uses is getting your other party members to stop what they're doing and reconsider their actions at the tap of L1. Both characters are on Rage, but they were in the middle of their normal attack combos despite Skills being available. A touch of L1 and Rage's preference for Skills persuades Endrance and Kuhn to attack the way I want. It's useful for Beast Awakening in particular because you have no subscreen access, making micromanagement otherwise impossible. It may not always work, but if they go into their normal attacks another tap or two will work since L1 won't stop Skills in progress. This not only cans normal attack combos, but gets your characters up faster and prevents them from bouncing off the ground as well. Think of how Taihaku sometimes goes straight into his AIDA aura attack the instant he touches the ground; the Gather command lets your party members do similar tricks. You could also let your characters land normally and go into their knockback attack (or Rise Attack as Rebirth called it); Gather will can it too, so you can let the attack occur, tap L1, and force instant recovery so they don't kneel for a second, turning it from a defensive measure into an offensive stun setup (like how the Skill Trigger stuns opponents that are in your face, creating an opening).
Oh, and if you're using Tenacity, you can use L1 like how you use guard canceling for Haseo. Just be careful because this gather cancel affects both teammates, and normal attacks will be canceled out even in the middle of the animation (say a twin blade uses hold and release; they should get in five blows with it but they could get less, or none at all).
Sorry about the wordiness, I never got a chance to go into the use of Gather cancel until now. :P
Equipment and items used are as follows:
Haseo -
Veteran Fenlong+5 (All Damage +25% - Ginseng)
Wrath Hidaru+5 (Critical +50% - Sabertooth Tooth)
(armor is negligible)
Passion Fortunes+5 (Morale Boost - Battle Cosmetics)
Berserk Fortunes+5 (Skill Boost - Skill Candle)
Holy Potion x4
Endrance -
Wrath Rank+5 (Critical +50% - Sabertooth Tooth)
(armor is negligible)
Berserk Fortunes+5 (Skill Boost - Skill Candle)
Warrior Tome x1
Healing Serum x1
Kuhn
Silent Jade
(armor is negligible)
Berserk Fortunes+5 (Skill Boost - Skill Candle)
NOTE: I may be wrong on the accessories for Endrance and Kuhn, but the attachments are correct.
The Corbenik the 2nd fight is simply a better no damage battle, this time only permitting Corbenik to use one Variant Summon instead of two. Otherwise, it's mostly the same, just touched up. It's also the actual battle and not the VR system battle, so hopefully a few of you who still believe levels affect Avatar battle will rethink your positions now. After all, this is an underlevelled fight and yet it's faster than the movie taken at the Serpent of Lore. If Rebirth were correct, this battle would've been a bit longer and probably include Corbenik's "Data Drain" as well.
