This is video #067 in my playthrough of Lufia & the Fortress of Doom. This video contains commentary. To view the non-commentary version, click here: https://youtu.be/MeGn2413Igk

The party has fought Nazeby at the top of Glasdar Tower. Unfortunately, it was part of a scheme by Daos. Now Lufia and the Dual Blade have both left the party. Things are looking pretty bleak. It is time to storm Doom Island. Now is a good time to prepare if you haven't already.

From the village of Arus, Doom Island is a short distance to the northwest (time 0:14). The game will not allow the party to fly farther north than the shrine at the southern end of the island, so they will have to land and approach the shrine on foot.

After landing, they enter the Doom Island Shrine (time 0:33). It turns out that this is the destination of those four shrines around the world. All the portals and doors are now unlocked. The man here will give the party free healing and allow them to save. Just who is he, though?

The party will then take the north exit and begin making their way to the Fortress of Doom (time 1:09). Beware of the elementals along this route. The western slope up the first plateau is slightly safer because it does not lead through the southeastern toxic marsh.

On the highest plateau, the party finds their destination, the Fortress of Doom (time 3:14). This is the first and last dungeon of the game. It is much the same as it was during the prologue, except that there are stronger enemies, and Lufia is not with the party. The enemies love group attack spells. That can make this place a bit of a pain. If only Lufia was here, this would be a good place to grind. Max and Jerin should both know Valor. Bring plenty of MP restoration items for them.

The party firsts heads through the left door (time 3:28). The chest beyond contains a Power Potion.

Then, the party goes down the nearby stairway to B1 (time 3:43).

They go into the middle room (time 4:39). The chests here contain a Speed Potion, a Mind Potion, and a Great Potion.

Max reaches Level 53 on the way out (time 5:44).

The party goes up the northeast stairway back to the first floor (time 6:14). They arrive near a chest that contains a Spell Potion (time 7:09).

Back out in the main 1F hallway, Aguro reaches Level 51 (time 8:04).

At the northern end of the hallway, they go upstairs to floor 2F (time 9:40).

On 2F, they first enter the door to the east (time 9:47). The chest within contains a Power Potion.

Then, the party follows the main hall north, east, and south.

Along the way, Jerin reaches Level 48 (time 11:23).

In the eastern hallway, they go through the door to the west (time 12:26). The chest within contains a Spell Potion.

In the southeast, they go upstairs to the third floor (time 12:44). First, they go around to the northern side of the lower platform.

The each of the two chests by the north side contains a Miracle (time 16:05).

Then, on the high dais, the party goes up the stairs to the fourth floor (time 17:29).

On the circular ledge, the chest to the west contains a Miracle (time 17:40).

The chest by the northern side contains another Miracle (time 18:44).

The chest by the eastern side contains a third Miracle (time 18:53). That should be the last treasure chest in the game.

Now, the party goes back downstairs to the third floor (time 19:52).

Max reaches Level 54 (time 21:07).

The party goes down the stairway on the northern side of the lower platform (time 21:27).

Down here, Aguro reaches Level 52 (time 22:13).

Here, they rest up with the MP restoration tile.

Back up on the third floor, they go up to the fourth floor again (time 25:04).

Up here, Jerin reaches Level 49 (time 25:33).

Then, they proceed through the warp to the fifth floor (time 25:51). This is it ... the final area!

To the north, they find the busted Dual Blade (time 26:07). Drat. Then, the Sinistrals will make an appearance. Daos will play head games with Max and Lufia. Suddenly, something interesting happens to the Dual Blade.

Afterwards, Max will be equipped with the Dual Blade once again (time 28:48).

As the party heads north toward Daos, Gades will step in to challenge them (time 29:02). Time to battle Gades! This giant swordsman relies mainly on brute force. His Undead ability will increase his already considerable attack power by a good margin. Destroy is a very powerful physical attack.

The main strategy is to attack with Max and Aguro until Gades falls. Max and Jerin can boost each party member's attack power with Trick. Jerin's duty is to keep everyone healed. Since Gades only attacks one party member at a time, Courage should be enough to keep everyone healed.

Afterward, the party has the time to heal up if needed (time 32:12).

Description continued in the comments.
