Luke's custom PlayStation controller turns the tables
30Luke was often severely abused by online video game players who didn't know he was disabled, but this is how SpecialEffect helped him to realise his dream of being able to play to his full potential.
Luke's cerebral palsy meant that he could only use one hand at a time to play games, a slow and frustrating process. "I was tying myself in knots," he said, "and being thrashed in online games."
Step forward Barrie, one of our techiest wizards. He designed and prototyped a custom controller board with arcade-style buttons to replace the hard-to-reach switches on Luke's PS3 controller. With the help of the fantastic Mark Heath, and Bespoke Arcades (http://www.bespoke-arcades.co.uk/) who kindly made the casing free of charge, he's now playing at his best, forming new friendships, and loving the equality.
