Ike's thoughts on the yuri manga Luminous Blue. It is a frustrating, but entertaining experience (lol). It's alright now that I've read it for the third time. Emotions! The mangaka sure is good at making me... feel things.

I guess I was more upset about the story that I forgot to mention the art. In Transparent Light Blue, I thought the art was unique, but not particularly my style. For Luminou=Blue, however, I started appreciating the art a whole lot more on my third read. The composition of each pages, the tears (oh god, the tears), and faces are a treat. Wait, no, minus the tears.

Chapter 8 and 9 almost feels like a whiplash for me. You have Nene acting practically heartless towards Amane, but then she's groveling and crying about her the next? It just took a lot out of me.

Also, I didn't want to say this, but Nene and Amane kind of reminds me of Mei and Yuzu. It always has to go back to Citrus at some point.

According to my notes, I now kinda like the ending. I was confused at first, then I thought about the reason why I decided to read Luminous Blue. I got baited by the ending's promise of a polyamory relationship. I actually read up to chapter 3, which was the latest chapter at the time, and then I forgot about it.

When I remembered it again, I knew it was going to be a shitshow. I saw it was completed and decided to check out the ending. Baited.

Now here I am, looking like an idiot on the internet. But at least I'm not as dumb as Kou.

I don't think I addressed this in the video, but I thought about how odd it would be if you were to date someone who you've seen clearly hurting their friend (emotionally). Then again, who am I to talk about relationships? Hah!

What is Luminous=Blue?

Kou Tarumizu transfers to the high school of her idol and two time photography contest winner, Uchiho Hayama, only to find that the photography club has been disbanded and Uchiho is in a photographic slump.

To revive the club and get Uchiho out of her slump, Kou decides to enter a photography contest and chooses her classmates Nene and Amane as her subjects. But it turns out that the two of them used to be a couple...
