Luminous Productions New Game Discussion and Speculated Teaser at PS5 Reveal
Luminous Productions is working on the next big AAA title that has been compared to the size of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. This team is comprised of former Final Fantasy XV developers, and after the resignation of Hajime Tabata, Takeshi Aramaki has taken the role as head of the studio.
Now, very little is known about the project currently in production. However, there is still a lot to be excited about when it comes to this studio. We know they are capable of creating beautiful worlds with compelling characters as they did with Final Fantasy XV, but thats not what has intrigued me most.
This new project is being compared to franchises such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. People, these franchises are huge and the fact that SquareEnix is finally ready to invest into creating another ip on the triple AAA scale of Final Fantasy tells us we are bound to get something ambitious.
The last we heard anything about this studio was December 26 2019. This wasn’t that long ago and at that time we weren’t expecting to hear anything for a while. Now, we know SquareEnix have never been one to show games close to a release date, In most cases we end up getting reveals years outside of the anticipated launch time frame and this brings me to my next point which leaves me to believe that we may just get some sort of teaser sometime this year especially with the PlayStation 5 on the horizon and the build up to launch. We know SquareEnix and PlayStation are long time partners and this may just be another situation where the PS5 gets that timed exclusive and exclusive teaser at their presentation.
When it comes to what I would like to see come out of Luminous Productions I would love to see a jRPG that like Final Fantasy XV takes some of the elements of a realistic world mixed with the fantasy genre that could play out like the tech demo we saw in Agnis Philosophy. This tech demo generated a ton of hype and I could absolutely see this doing well as long as its supported with an appealing story, characters and gameplay.
Now I completely understand that a tech demo does not necessarily equal a possibility of it coming to life in a complete project but I would love to see that come to life in some way or another.
So what do you think, could we see the highly anticipated secret luminous productions project soon? and what would you like to see them do? Let me know in the comments.
