MAGFest 2024: Esports in College: Degrees & Competitive Gaming
This panel explores the world of college esports, touching on the varied approaches of colleges/universities concerning competitive gaming, esports emerging as a degree offering, and what competition looks like at the college level. I will be presenting personal stories from my experience as college coach, program coordinator, and professor of esports, which includes having won 6 national championships at the junior college level, receiving a congratulatory letter from the Governor of Virginia, and building out a Minor in Esports for George Mason University.
Panelist: Jordan Whitaker [Professor of Esports]
