Magix Music Maker Premium 2018 , automation of synthesizer knobs
add extra articulation to your notes . ALL synth knobs can be dynamically automated . Yellow keys are also discussed .
Volume knob
wet-dry slider assigned to midi ctrl # 119
Pitch Bend roller wheel
ModWheel roller wheel midi ctrl # 1
Magix continues to have Music Maker Premium Bundle , on sale . if you want lots of music synthesizers , MM 2018 is a good place to get 8 extra synths , in addition to the synths that it comes with . that's more than 15 instruments .
one more annotation trick .
some of the synths , like "Concert Guitar" , have an extra feature . when the Velocity is set to Max , at 127 , ( Velocity is midi ctrl # 0 ) , the guitar notes play with a doy-it . kind of a mis-strum on the string . each note in a Chord , can have it's own doy-it , when each note is set to Velocity 127 . on the tiny keyboard of the synth interface , use the mouse and click near the bottom of a key to Play Louder and get the Doy-it . click the key nearer the top to play the notes softer . ( only notes played with the Big on-screen keyboard or with the computer keyboard , will record midi notes to the MIDI editor ) . later , adjust the Velocity , to give particular notes a doy-it . the tiny keyboard is only there to easily play note samples ( no recording )
in the synth menu , you can Save your custom knob settings as .fbx file "save bank" , later , you can "load bank" to restore your custom "fixed" position knob settings .
Note :
automation settings can only be saved in a .mid file , exported from the MIDI Editor , or with the entire .MMM project file .
I do believe automation only works with Music Maker and Samplitude , because they have a dedicated MIDI Editor . ACID Pro 8 , has the Time Line MIDI editor . I think automation of the synth knobs do NOT work with ACID Pro 8 , nor ACID Music Studio 10 .
Concert Grand Piano supports the 3 foot pedals , Sustain 64 , Soft 67 and sostenuto 66 . look in the MIDI control number list , for "Sustain" and "Soft" and "sostenuto"
extra example :
Concert Grand Piano , has a "Pitch" knob , this is different then MIDI "pitch bend" . ( "pitch bend" uses the roller wheel ) . Assign midi ctrl # 119 , to the "Pitch" knob , now select 119 in the midi channel listing . draw a curve with the mouse ,...play the midi time line to watch the Pitch knob move , and listen to the frequency changing . Special effects can be made this way .
the big synthesizers that are hugely costly , might have an extra interface to make easier use of "automation" . But , as seen in this video , Magix does it too .
