I've hiked and climbed dozens and dozens of mountains in my life. More often than not I go on my adventures alone, which has to change for the sake of having a camera person. You might not believe some of the places I go in a year. On this day last summer I climbed to the top of Mount Magnus near Barkerville BC, and had a look out towards the Bowron Provincial Park. The wind made it hard hear what I am saying, but I didn't want to stand below the nearby cliff where the wind was still because the bugs would have carried me away!
There was a thunderstorm developing and I've been on the mountain tops lots when that happens, usually I prefer to be in the safety of my truck though. So I was quick to descend down to safety. Just the week before I had been on Patchett next door and stubbornly refused to leave before hitting summit, I was hammered with wind and hail and risked lightning. I wouldn't have made that choice when guiding others and you should do as I say, not as I do. I have a way of knowing exactly what I can get away with out in the wilderness, even when alone.
