Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level is a part of the "Make a Good Mega Man Level" series of fangames where users create & submit their own levels for judging by an esteemed panel of judges. For MaG48HMML, participants based their levels around randomly selected boxes containing 3 enemies & 2 gimmicks from across the Classic Mega Man series.

That level was certainly a fever dream. From the music choice to the stage itself, there was a complete lack of a cohesive theme, but in this case I think that added to the confusion this level left on my brain. Design-wise & Creativity-wise, there's not a lot to write home about. The level has some interesting setups with the Metal Man Crushers, with my personal favourite being the horizontal ones, but a lot of the level is just waiting.

The creator seemed incapable of creating obstacles that didn't involve the crushers, underutilizing the Storm Lord enemies in the process. The other two enemies were used fairly well though. Where I think this level loses me the most is the snow gimmick. It's fine when you're outside in the snow fields, but why on earth is there snow underground? In fact, why is there just a random jungle underground? The gimmick just makes you move so slow, and add onto that the wait time from the crushers, and you have a level that takes far too long to push through.

Aesthetically, it just doesn't make sense, and that's topped off with a boss room that's randomly underwater, using tilesets that just don't look like they belong in the same level as the stage. And the boss is incredibly obnoxious without using Robot Master Weapons too. There was no thought put into that fight.

Functionally, the level is mostly "fine". I had a few instances of chains on crushers that wouldn't spawn, and the checkpoint in the room with the first Yashichi meant I could die & still get past the ladder crushers, which is a shame because that was probably the most interesting setup those crushers had.

Still, I had a weird amount of fun with this level. Would I play it again? God no, but there were funny moments here and there that had me think, "This level IS bad, but not Tier 1 bad."
