Playing up your strengths is a point that Jonathan Mayer, Senior Music Manager for Sony Interactive Entertainment, likes to emphasize. Some projects may only have one person playing multiple roles - from audio producer to composer to scripting. The indie game industry saw success in a recently released game where one person, with little help from any collaborators, took on the entire sound scape of the game by focusing on the elements that really mattered. For example, if you’re a composer, use your music knowledge to create sound design for the game. If you don’t try to take on too much and pinpoint the areas where you can offer the most value, you’ll put out work that will stand out.

Speaker:

Jonathan Mayer – Sony Interactive Entertainment, Sr. Music Manager; 2000 Recording Arts (God of War, The Last of Us, Uncharted)
