From Street Fighter II to Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, the main updates are being able to select the same character utilizing alternate colors, and the ability to play as "The Four Divas": Balrog/M. Bison/Boxer, Vega/Balrog/Bull Fighter, Sagat, & M. Bison/Vega/Dictator.

The Character Select mugs are upgraded, too. For example, Ryu now has a small goatee in his mugshot, and he seems more eager. This is also the point where Ryu and Ken start to differentiate from each other with their shared fighting style.

To elaborate, Ryu now has a stronger, faster Hadoken, and single, strong-hitting Tatsumaki, while Ken's Shoryuken has more range, and his Tatsumaki does lighter damage, but more hits.

Finally, the stage colors and music has been slightly tweaked, as well.
