Since 0.177, MAME has been including a driver called vgmplay, for playback of game music rips in the VGM format (see https://www.mamedev.org/?p=430).

For MAME 0.201, software lists were added (https://www.mamedev.org/?p=460), which means a ton of games and tracks can now be loaded/played using the software lists, as shown. Pretty straightforward to use !

It looks like a few drivers aren't perfect (neogeo sounds incomplete, I think that's a known issue), it worked perfectly fine for the few I showed here, though.
