Man of Medan (PS4) - Ep03 - J. P. Edgar Plays
0Author J. P. Edgar plays games he has never played before. This time, it's "Man of Medan," the first of "The Dark Pictures" anthology on the PS4, where Brad continues to wander the cargo bay as he slowly descends into madness before leaping off the side to escape his hallucinations.
Fliss escapes getting pulled down by a horde of zombies before stumbling across an elegant, clean, and (relatively) well-lit dining room. When we take our time to think about a book, the game says, "hurry up!" and pushes us to the next trigger. And that trigger is a necromancer approaching, and we stabby stab it in the chest.
Julia goes swimming, and Alex fights himself, trying to drown himself in a confusing mess of a scene. But it was a bamboozle, and one of the pirates emerged from the water to chase them down a corridor.
Brad... RIP.
Party Boy Conrad sees the pinup from earlier come to life, and he's all, "Nope!" And he locks himself in what I believe is the Captain's Quarters. But that doesn't stop the pinup girl, and the world around him starts to deteriorate like some Silent Hill BS. I get an itch on my thumb resulting in Conrad falling to his death.
Julia and Alex flee from the pirate before we make our way to the upper deck and to the weather deck, where Fliss says she saw Conrad and tried to catch up to him. And Brad... We won't talk about Brad's fate. But since they're on the upper decks, that means they can reach the radio room to call for help. And that's when they realize that the vessel was blown off course, which is why it was never discovered in the past. But the radio isn't working well (after it worked), so Alex and Julia return to the lower decks to find some sort of generator. Julia slips and falls down a hole.
Alex and Julia make their way through the engine room where they spot the distributor cap in the room next door through a hole in the wall. The pirate captain equips a sledgehammer and makes his presence known throughout the halls. They come across a pirate with a gun freaking out. Alex is all, "It's all in your head." So the pirate put a bullet in his head. RIP.
Fliss, seeing how fun falling down the hole was, climbs down the hole. Note: her decision to follow doesn't make sense at all. She encounters the sledgehammer pirate and rolls initiative. The two struggle, and the pirate gets wasted by a door. No joke. But Fliss puts the distributor cap in her inventory and makes her way to the Duke of Milan. But not before stumbling across Brad dead in the water.
Out of five, only two survive, and they sail away into the calm waters of the sunrise.
