Mario Kart 8 - 150cc Lightning Cup - 3 stars

And now the last of the 150cc cups: the Lightning Cup! Here we revisit the inner machinations of Tick Tock Clock from Mario Kart DS, the SMB1-based Piranha Plant Slide from Mario Kart 7, the actively-erupting Grumble Volcano from Wii, and a remake of what many consider the most legendary track in all of Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64's Rainbow Road.
Changes from the original versions:
DS Tick-Tock Clock - You can trick off the gears and clock hands, and there's a glider ramp right before the spinning gear section.
3DS Piranha Plant Slide - The underwater section is now also in antigravity.
Wii Grumble Volcano - There's now a glider ramp as you exit the tunnel right after the first fork in the road.
N64 Rainbow Road - This has got to be the most extensive remake in the entire game. For starters, the track texture has been made to look like Super Mario Kart's Rainbow Road, there are now glider sections at the beginning and end of the track, most of the guardrails have been removed to add to the challenge, the neon lights have been replaced with fireworks displays over a city (like Double Dash's Rainbow Road), there is a train following along with you tossing coins, the Chomps now bounce on the track creating shockwaves that you can trick off of, most of the big turns are now in antigravity, and since the track still takes around a minute and a half to complete one lap, they split that one lap into three sections to avoid making the race too long for online play. Personally, I thought two laps would work well for this track (like Wario Colosseum from Double Dash) since it could still be beaten in under 3 minutes that way.
