Mario Kart 8 - Apr 26 15 C
Part of the reason why I'm putting up so many of these Mario Kart 8 videos is because I want to show all eight of the new courses as online races, and so far, we've seen seven of them: GCN Baby Park, GBA Cheese Land, Wild Woods, 3DS Neo Bowser City, GBA Ribbon Road, Super Bell Subway, and Big Blue. The last one is the one promoted first: Animal Crossing, which finally comes up in this video.
And for those of you following my Coin count, I was at 8,722 Coins when this video ended. I was at 1,756 wins and 1,540 losses.
Race #9
Sunshine Airport
This used to be so very common playing online, it feels kind of weird to go through so many Mario Kart 8 videos without having something here until now. Don't you worry though. Eventually, the course selection in the lobbies will give every location an equal chance once the excitement has died down. Not exactly the most exciting race you'll see, but my computer was running low on battery power, and I had to take what I could get. The Game Capture HD's power source is the computer itself.
Race #10
Animal Crossing (Summer)
And here's the last one to show, which was unusually rare. This one is themed on the game series of the same name, and like the progress of time in the Animal Crossing games, this course has four possible seasons, though I don't know what triggers what. You'll see the Animal Crossing characters standing on the sidelines too, and if they have a shop, they'll be right in front of it. K.K. Slider changes his location and song based on the season; for the summer variant, he's on a rock near the beach and sings "Go K.K. Rider!" The course itself is a pretty easy one, perhaps a middle Mushroom Cup difficulty, but it's still pretty interesting nonetheless. Like with Hyrule Circuit replacing Coins with Rupees, the Coins here take the form of Bells.
Race #11
Baby Park
There are so few racers here, you can get a pretty good idea of what position everyone is in--there is no lapping here! There was a male Villager player who was struggling to keep up. I guess girl Villagers just do it better.
Race #12
Twisted Mansion
Here's a sight that remains pretty rare, DLC or not. As for how the race ended, that was, of course, due to the fact that I had nothing to defend myself with. Is it due to the Coin item? Absolutely. Do I think it's unfair? Of course not. A lead player needs to have vulnerabilities. I know I've mentioned it before, but I can't emphasize it enough: A lead racer in a game like this needs a Sword of Damocles, and the Coin is a pretty effective tool in that regard, arguably more so than the Blue Shell.
