This place is not actually a tower as in a brick fortress-looking place with a boss at the top and with music normally used for towers, though it does scroll vertically. Rather, this is set underground, using the usual underground music. I think it was a bit of a mistake to give this stage a name that ends in the word "tower," as it's misleading. You don't want players to think there are TWO towers in this World. Or even three.

And it does not have anything to do with The Dark Tower either, the series of books written by Stephen King.

This stage is divided into two parts, both of them themed around light-emitting blocks. You see, this is not only an underground stage, it's a dark stage, one of my least favorite kinds of stages as I like having good visibility. (You know, theoretically, one could make a foggy stage with this very same mechanic.) In the first half, the light-emitting blocks will glow and fade at regular intervals. Due to the way the blocks are timed, they alternate between one set and another set, just enough for Mario to know where he should be going.

And yeah, that Star Coin was effortless, the one with the Paratroopas.

The second part has the blocks always turned off by default. By hitting ? Switches, Mario can turn them all on for several seconds, and hopefully he'll be near the next ? Switch by the time time runs out. Theoretically, you can make it through here without ever lighting up any of these blocks, but the marching Bob-ombs present in this area will make ti excruciatingly difficult. The Swoopers too, to a lesset extent.

You know, looking at the eyes on those blocks, the ones that are turned off don't have shut eyes. Their eyes just tilt a little bit. And whoever installed those lights clearly did not install enough of them.
