In memory of Satoru Iwata's passing, there was an informal event on July 13th, 2015 called "Race for Iwata" where people would race in the game using Miis of Iwata.

Sorry for the sudden audio shifts at the beginning; I edited the video without listening for the sound, and this was what resulted.

Race #1
Super Bell Subway
Number of Iwatas (including mine): 4 out of 11
Now, I've known for a long while now that you can drive on the subway trains, but I hadn't memorized where they'd be well enough to actually do it until now. It was extremely brief but allowed my Iwata to take the lead. I also didn't let him get hit by a subway train the whole race!

Mario Kart Circuit
Number of Iwatas: 5 out of 12
I think this was the record during that day I saw, with 5 Iwatas (including "Mr. Iwata" and "BMRIPIwata," both of which were the players' own interpretations of the man in Mii Maker, the latter of which is lacking his glasses). Races in Mario Kart Circuit are invariably frantic, and that's why I love them. It's one of the few first courses in a Mario Kart game I can enjoy, whereas other ones I just tolerate. You never know what position you'll be in at the end of the race. I'm sure that for some other people, that's exactly what they dislike about the Mario Kart series though.

3DS Piranha Plant Slide/Pipeway
Number of Iwatas: 2 out of 10
And in this room, we have Canadian Iwata. I miss this course. I haven't played it much ever since the DLC Pack #2 release. This time, literally half the room chose it. I must not be the only person to long for playing on it. I always like how intense this 1-2 themed place is. A 3-D interpretation of that stage makes for a pretty tough racetrack. Also, don't miss how this race ends!

N64 Royal Raceway
Number of Iwatas: 2 out of 12
I guess this room isn't quite as dedicated to Race for Iwata as the other room. This is also the only race in this video without a three-word name.
