Mario Kart Wii - Jul 15 08 A
Hmm, looks like the Wii Update didn't fix the problem, but made it worse. I really can't tell why I'm constantly getting disconnected like this. I've gotten pushed down to about 6100. However, it looks like a lot of other people are feeling this too, as I'm not seeing very many high VRs.
UPDATE: This problem was solved about a week after I uploaded this. What I did was move the Wii closer to the router. It now sits about 6 feet (2 meters) from it. If you're having this problem, you can give it a try.
Races #1 and #2
Coconut Mall
Rainbow Road
You know the deal here. I play for a bit, then I get the 91010 error. Not everybody gets this, but some people seem to. I'm still fairly sure it's something to do with the game, as I don't get disconnected like this for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and certainly not Pokémon Battle Revolution.
And so...I change the router the Wii runs on. There's another router in this neighborhood, a Linksys router that doesn't use a password. It's used sometimes for when we somehow lose connection to the internet, but I decided to try this to see if it is our router's fault. Linksys routers work very well with the Wii, and if it is our router's fault, the races done using the Linksys router should be smooth and uninterrupted.
We use an Actiontec GT704-WG, by the way. I looked it up and found that it's really not that professional of a router company, and the Nintendo tech support site says it isn't a recommended router. That's why I'm still at least a bit suspicious of this router I use.
Race #3
SNES Mario Circuit 3
Here's a race using the Linksys router. The connection is weak, causing people to warp around and thus throwing off my aim, but strong enough for me to get to the end of the race. The people up front aren't going to relinquish their spots very easily, and it looks like a relatively obstacle-free course like this keeps the race close enough that you really can't tell where you'll place. Unless you're 4th.
Race #4
DK Summit
Okay, so it IS the game. I get the 91010 error anyway when I use the Linksys router. So it isn't time for me to get a better router.
And so, I change it back to the router at this house. I'm going to go to bed now, but after this, I plan to relocate the Wii somewhere else, as I've come up with a possible way to reduce (but not eliminate) the disconnection problems I've had altogether. It's too bad I can't find a way to get rid of Wii Updates.
