Mario vs. Donkey Kong - Intro
Although the GBA never got a new Super Mario Bros., it did get a really solid Mario platformer still. Mario vs. Donkey Kong started life as a remake of the Game Boy version of Donkey Kong known as Donkey Kong Plus, where you could use a level editor feature by connecting your GBA with the GameCube. Sadly, the level editor was removed before release, but it's ok; we got a brand-new game out of it that was just as good.
The game features Mario having to rescue his own Mini-Mario toys from Donkey Kong (explicitly the DKC one this time and not Cranky), who went into a shoplifting frenzy when he couldn't find one at the store. Mario's an easy target these days thanks to being voiced by Chris Pratt and not doing anything about Joy-Con drift, but his greedy capitalist days started all the way back here in 2004!
