Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is a crossover fighting game developed by Capcom, in collaboration with Eighting, featuring characters from Capcom's games and Marvel Comics. Released in February 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it follows Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and is the first in the series to use 3D character models.
The game involves tag-team battles where players select teams of three characters to fight opponents, utilizing a simplified control system for wider accessibility. New mechanics, like the "X-Factor," offer temporary boosts to damage, speed, and health regeneration. Various offline and online game modes are included, such as Arcade Mode and multiplayer matches.
With a roster of 36 characters, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 received praise for its gameplay and character diversity but faced criticism for its online features and limited game modes. It sold over 2 million units within a month and led to an updated version, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, released later that year. Combined sales of both versions exceeded 4 million.
