Mass Effect: Does Damping actually disable enemy tech and biotic abilities?
Mass Effect (Xbox 360). This video is just a fairly bad montage of me slowly figuring out how Damping actually works.
The description for Damping says it can shut down (temporarily disable) enemy tech and biotic abilities. It also says that it increases enemy tech and biotic cooldowns.
For a long time, I was under the impression that Damping did not actually disable enemy tech or biotics, but only increased the cooldown after they were used. I finally decided to use it in a fairly controlled setting to see if it actually did disable enemy tech and biotic abilities as advertised.
From what I can tell, damping only disables enemy tech and biotic abilities for a few seconds. However, the more you use it, the longer enemy biotic and tech attacks are disabled.
It took me a while to figure it out, but eventually you can see that after damping some biotic enemies, they attack me with biotics a few seconds later before Damping is off cooldown. But after a second Damping, I can keep their biotics on cooldown almost indefinitely.
