What was supposed to be an epic large-scale battle—me, commanding a powerful army, fully prepared and stacked with elite units—turned into a COMPLETE disaster. The kind of battle that makes you put your head in your hands and question if Age of Wonders 4 even knows what balance means anymore.
In this video, I go up against a seemingly manageable enemy force, only to be absolutely steamrolled in the most unfair, rage-inducing way possible. The AI pulls off plays that make zero tactical sense—unless it’s hiding behind some next-level, developer-blessed stat buffs. Units that should’ve held the line get shredded in seconds, magical spells that were supposed to tip the scales fizzle into nothing, and my entire strategy crumbles like a sandcastle in a tsunami.
Whether it’s overpowered racial traits, busted faction mechanics, or just flat-out AI cheating, this battle showcases everything that’s wrong with Age of Wonders 4’s current balance state.
