Finally done with the Master Levels and what an end it is. Kvernmo's maps are damn good. They're also mean, needlessly difficult and do not give you sufficient health and ammo most of the time.
Back in my first video, i've stated that Bloodflood is impossible on UV, and is the worst Doom map i've played. I'd like to take that back. It is very much possible, but requires a a lot of planning, cheesing tactics, and straight up luck. It wasn't tested on UV at all, and it shows. But it's a fine map alltogether, obviously meant for DM.
Bloodsea Keep is fantastic, one of the standout maps in TML.
Derelict Station is fine, but has a ridiculous start. Like Bloodflood, it was meant for DM. Same with The Watchtower.
Mephisto is....bad. It's a truly ridiculous map, watch MtPain27's video if you're interested why. It is better than Doom II's Icon of sin though. The difficulty at least comes from the monsters themselves, and not from doing that stupid timing "puzzle".
Temple of Death was Kvernmo's first Doom map. Damn good start. Has some truly genius evil traps. One secret does not register though, keep that in mind.
TEETH is a horrible cramped mess. Never liked it. and Bad Dream is a slideshow when playing with gore mods, Nashgore in my case.
The Arena map is fine, nothing special, and Eye of The Storm is a fantastic proto-slaughtermap.
Black Tower is the best map in the master levels. It's Kvernmo's masterpiece.
The last map is brilliant. If you play it without using the automap, it's absolutely nonsenical. But everyone know the gimmick by now, it looks like the devil.
I'm really glad to be done with the Master Levels. NRFTL is next.
